Diablo 3 is now available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles in the form of the Ultimate Evil Edition. The Ultimate Evil edition comes complete with Diablo 3 and Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls expansion pack. Set 20 years after the end of Diablo 2 Diablo 3 takes you back to Sanctuary the dark fantasy world which is the stage for the Diablo series of games. At the start of game a mysterious star falls from the sky and Crashes into Tristram cathedral opening a crater in which the demonic forces start to crawl out. This is where your mission starts.
Starting the game requires you to choose one of the 6 classes available to you, the type of character you choose will determine how you go about playing the game, we will give a little more detail in the characters a little further down, but essentially each character comes with its own strengths and weaknesses an also its own specialized skills and abilities to help you beat back the hordes. This will be be the single biggest and most important choice you make in the game, the is no point in choosing a magical type character and then try and melee your way through the game as it simply wont happen. Once you have chosen your class there are still options for you to take, that is how you build your character, by this I mean how you set up your skills, abilities, weapons and armor. There are loads of combinations to try to suit your style of play, how effective you are in picking the right upgrade path will go a long way to how successful you are in the game.
Differences between the Xbox One and the PS4 version of Diablo 3 - Blizzard has kept the gameplay of the consoles the same and as well as that kept everything they could from the PC version as well so gameplay is not an issue. The big talking point before release was that the Xbox One version would only run at 900p resolution and not at full HD 1080p resolution. Microsoft came out before the release and stated that this was blatantly unacceptable and that the game must run at Full HD. Blizzard responded with some coding and managed to raise the resolution to 1080p with a day one patch release. While not really noticeable without frame rate counter it did come at a small cost for the Xbox One which was that the game does not hold solid at 60fps throughout the entire game, it dipped to the mid 50s at a few parts of the game, while the PS4 version holds steady at 60fps throughout the entire game. Its not a deal breaker though the game doesn't stutter or slow badly but it does highlight the extra grunt that the PS4 has and the need for delicate coding to get the best out of the Xbox One at this time.
