PlayStation Now, a service that allows players to pay older games from the PlayStation 3 catalog is being discontinued. The service dubbed Netflix for games was a novel idea but it seems either the service was under used or that it was costing too much money to run on all these devices. Only the PS4 and the PC will be able to continue to have support for PlayStation Now. This means that the PS Vita, PS3 and the selection of Sony Bravia TV’s and Media systems will no longer be supported.
The Official line from Sony is that the shut down of services to these devices to solely to provide a better experience on the PS4 and the PC. This of course will be up for debate as we really don’t know the thue reasons behind the decision. The shut down date is August 15th. Sony is getting the word out now to allow those affected to be able to cancel their subscriptions in plenty of time.
