squaresquaresquareNew 160/320Gb PS3 Slim

28/8/2010

The original PS3 slim models featured 120Gb and 250Gb hard drives and proved to be very popular. Since then the demanding gaming public has made noises about running out of hard disk space even with these very respectable drive sizes for a gaming console.

Sony has heard your cries and has now released two new models of the Playstation 3 slim. A 160Gb and a 320Gb model have been added to the range to add more flexibility to what is a home entertainment system rather than just a gaming console.

Playstation 3 SlimThe 160Gb will be sold as a standalone unit, while the 320Gb version will initially be sold as part of  new Playstation Move Sports Champions pack which comes with the Playstation Move controller and Playstation eye camera as well as the sports champions game and a PS3 Demo disc.

The 160Gb model is shipping now and ready for purchase while the 320Gb model is being held back to September 19th to coincide with he release of Playstation move. The move controller is set to be similar to that of the Nintendo Wii. allowing full motion control over your games immersing you deeper into your gaming session and allowing more party style fun games on the PS3, which currently Nintendo has major dominance with its Wii console.

If that's not your cup of tea and you are looking at this PS3 because of the larger hard drive size, then there is an alternative. The PS3 can have its hard drive upgraded with a few simple steps. Check out our guide on upgrading your PS3's hard drive for further details. A new Console is always nice but if you have a PS3 already then a hard drive upgrade and a separate purchase of the Playstation move package will certainly work out a lot cheaper then the new bundle.
