Samsung NX 1000 Digital Compact System
Camera
Introducing the NX 1000 from Samsung, this is the entry level
model of the range of NX Compact system cameras. This may be the
smaller brother in the range but it does not miss out on many
features which makes this actually a high end compact camera.
For starters it sports an impressive 20.3 megapixel resolution,
an ISO range from 100 to 12,800 and HD movie recording. This
camera is aimed at the photographer who wants to take their
photos to the next level.
Common to its system naming of camera the NX series all come
with built in Wi-Fi and easy to use operating system that allows
you to share you pictures or upload them to storage very easily.
They all also come with what Samsung have named the iFunction
lens technology, this allows the user to manually make
alterations to settings such as the shutter speed, aperture,
exposure compensation, ISO and white balance. All these settings
can be altered by pressing a button on the lens, subtle changes
can then me made by twisting the lens' focus ring. This easy to
use option allows you to make quick changes to your shot before
the perfect shot disappears.
There are plenty more features in the Samsung NX1000, including
sweeping panorama, 8 frames per second continuous shooting,
creative effects by smart filter and an iScene mode which will
allow you to select a from a number pre defined scenic effects.
The NX1000 doesn't come with a built in flash but does have a
flash unit included that slides into a hotshoe connection on the
top of the camera. It is also bundled with a 20-50mm lens.
The Samsung NX1000 is capable of taking breath taking Panorama
pictures, it also capable of taking 3D Panorama shots which you
can show off to your friends and family providing you connect it
up to a 3D capable HDTV. While 3D is still a little undecided
when it comes to games and maybe hasn't captured everyone with
films, standalone pictures however cannot be argued with in my
view. 3D panoramic shots can be amazing to watch on a TV. What
better way to show off your holiday snaps than with full
panoramic 3D photos. The NX1000 also shoots full HD videos so
your experience really can be everyone's experience.
On the top of the camera is a smart link button, this allows you
to quickly connect to your preferred wireless network, once
connected you will be given options to share your photo's via
social networks send them to your smartphone or perform a backup
by sending the pictures to your PC. You can also e-mail photos
but typing in the e-mail address by rotating a wheel can prove
to be a little tiresome so I recommend only doing that when you
really feel the need to.
The Samsung NX1000 has many plus points but does have a few
weaknesses, The build quality is very good even though it is
made predominately out of plastic. The plastic is thick however
and feel solid so cant really complain. The only other thing
that can be classed as a weakness is the cameras speed. The
start up time can take a few seconds and while that isn't a
great deal of time, your shot can be lost in that time. Also
after taking a shot image processing is displayed on the screen
and prevents you from taking another shot for a few seconds.
