PantherProducts News 26th June
Hi, welcome to another edition of PantherProducts News. Its been a busy month for the gaming industry with plenty of talking points especially over the news about the New PS4 and the Xbox One. Some good news some bad news and then some u-turns on policies. So a quick run down, the release dates for both the new consoles are due some time in Novemeber exact dates to be confirmed even though retailers like Amazon are putting release dates on there sites for pre-ordering purposes. The PS4 will cost you £349 while the Xbox One will cost a bit more at £429 but does come with the Kinect 2.0 and no further cost. Microsofts Original Policy of not being able to lend games, being online once every 24 hours and only being able to sell your used games and selected retailers has been backtracked due to the public backlash and of course due to the fact that Sony said that they would have no such restrictions on their console. Both Consoles will require a monthly subscription in order to play online games now, a move that was a bit of a dissapointment to many but to be fair a required step for sony who need the cash to keep such a big infrastructure in place for all to use. The hard specs of the consoles look to favour the PS4 due to the DDR5 RAM modules but the Xbox has an unknown custom CPU which will surely help its power being made especially for the console. Also the cloud processing while yet to be seen in real world tests is being touted as having an extra 3 Xbox Ones at your disposal, a decent internet connection is certainly going to be required for this dispite Microsoft claiming the data transmissions will be small. We all know that even with the fastest connections we all expereince problems with the internet from time to time.
So what else is going on here at PantherProducts? Neo very excitingly has nearly completed the purchase of all the parts ready for his Monster PC to be created, you will be seeing more of that on here in the near future. I believe we are just waiting for the Water cooler to arrive but I'm sure he will let you know. In the mean time he has been playing through and recording his game play in the PS3 exclusive "The Last of Us" you can get parts 1 and two here in the forums or at the Pantherproducts channel on youtube, well worth a look if you need help in the game or simply want to see what the game is like.
Ive been doing the usual, keeping up to date with the news and keeping our popular and helpful guides upto date and relavent for the beginers and advanced users alike. Check out the Camera Basics article with 3 times more detail than before, the digital camera market has moved on significantly and even the cheaper cameras have many new features that a lot of people will not know about, we explain what these features are and how to use them. Also Ive been keeping a close eye on the analytics of our site and one page that has struck me that is being visited a serious amount of times is simple FIFA13 Controls page. In light of this I thought I would have a look how difficult it was to simply find a controller setup for certain games and it seems its not that easy, I thried to get the basic controls for the Last of Us and Google turned up very little. This may not be a huge thing but sometimes it seems you like to be able to get your hands on such things. So from now I will be adding some simple controls pages for the latest games that you be able to print out and keep just in case you forget what button does what or how to activate that special move.
I'm looking forward to the new release of Total War : Rome II, actually watching the video clip I posted in forums earlier in the week made me dig out the original Rome Total war and have another blast on that, war strategy being by favourite game genre. And lastly Ive downloaded quake arena arcade on the Xbox 360 for a bit of nostalgia, while my tactical gameplay on call of duty and battlefield was never really up to much, give me a fast paced all out deathmatch with a plasma gun and rocket launcher and weep
See you next time.
