A Chirpy alternative to Twitter??
A piece of software available that users transmit data from one device to another has been launched by animal systems. Named "Chirp" this piece of software allows the user to send an audio encoded Chirp which when heard by other devices will trigger a download. Users can send messages to a room full of people at once, or to a single device. Similar to twitter but on smaller more direct scale, Chirp can be used for a more business like model. For example in stores, the retailer could use the PA system to snd out this short chirp and all the phones connected in the store would say download a money off voucher to use at that time or get a list of the best offers of the day. For a music store they could chirp a sample of the latest album for you to listen to, the possabilities are endless.
Aside from this, Chirp is also being made to make transfering files between devices easier, much like with bluetooth but with the advantage of not needing to be pair with the device, as long as the bird can be heard the data will be sent, if the recieving phone is offline, the chirp is still remembered and will download the data once it finds an internet connection.
Soon you really wont be able to leave the house without your mobile phone, or who knows what you might be missing out on. If however a chirpy bird noise isnt what you want to hear all the time, if this takes off you may be in some distress
But I dont think its any worse than the constant message tones going off in public places all day long, is it???
Chirp is currently an iPhone only app but an Android app is in develpment and will be made available soon.

This sounds like a cool thing to use when roaming shopping centres, sounds a little bit like you could use it as a replacement groupon app only you'd get offers in shops you went into rather than hit and miss vouchers you get with groupon. A good idea to me.

Yeah I can see retail outlets getting all over this at some point. It hopefully would cut down on all the random vouchers you get through the post. I like the idea in music or game shops where it would send you a video or sample track to listen to about the latest game/video/music track.
