Call of Duty Ghosts - Multiplayer Reveal conference video
A couple of days ago the Call of Duty Ghosts Multiplayer Reveal conference was held. Details of several new multiplayer modes and improvements in the franchise game were shown off as well as the first ever live multiplayer game held by some of the worlds best players.
For someone who isnt a fan of the search and destroy game, well its not at the top of my favourites list anyway, I quite like the idea of the search and rescue game mode, which allows you to revive team mates. I like kill confirmed as a concept because it makes players achieve a goal that you cant do by simply sitting a hole taking people out. You have to play for the objective. This mode goes someway to achieving the same goal because simply killing the enemy team may not be enough to win the round.
Crank is also an interesting concept the idea that after a kill you have 30 seconds to make another kill or you explode. Killing several enemies get you perk bonuses to keep your streak going. This is a mode that you will either love or will detest I think, because you will have a really good game or a really bad one, getting an average K/D will be difficult. It takes me back to playing Quake games where team death match was a complete moshpit of poeple running around blasting anything that moved. If there is a hardcore Cranked mode then I think some of my current team will be getting kicked from the server on a regular basis.
You will of also seen the technical changes revealed in the video such as the movement of your characters involving the Knee Slide, leaning round corners and vaulting over objects as well as the audio enhancements that have been placed in the game. Create a soldier is the new way of selecting a class, similar to the Pick 10 system in Black Ops 2 you will have a certain amount of points to select what equipment and perks you require.
Maybe the biggest change to previous games will be the introduction to squads. Squads is a new way to rank up in multiplayer by creating your own team of soldiers and playing aginst another player and his/her team of soldiers. You create soldiers the same way you create your own class in normal multiplayer and then send them into battle letting the AI take control of the rest of your team. The clever thing here is the AI will play the game in way that suits the soldier you have created. Give thema sniper rifle and the that soldier will try and hide and go for long range skills. Soldiers with SMG's will run round looking for close combat. Equipment and perks will also alter the tactics of your team. The idea is to create a winning team and to do that you will need to have tactics as well as individual skill. This should be an interesting change, whether it works or not remains to be seen.
