Genre: Fantasy/Adventure
Platform: Playstation 3/Xbox360/Pc
Game type: Side scroller RPG

Overview:

Trine 2 is the second part of the Trine series and is a pretty short but sweet tale about three heroes going on an adventure to save the princess, the trine is a magical object that can summon and warp the three heores into new lands and times. The game is a downloadable from the Ps3 store but can also be purchased as a Ps3 game. Trine 2 promises hours of fun and puzzles to keep your mind active whilst being set in a beautifuly designed fantasy world.

Gameplay:

In you quest you start off as the wizard Amadeus who ios woken up byu the trine summoning him on an adventure, as you progress you also get to play as a knight and a theif named Pontius and Zoya. In single player you can switch between players by tapping the L1 or R1 buttons, each character has their own set of skills and abilities and values which are as follows:

Amadeus: Has the least HP of the three but can cast magical spells that summon boxes and planks to help you move along obstacles, by training him up he can also learn to pick up enemies and move them around, although he cannot attack enemies directly you can use the scenery to your advantage

Pontius: has the highest HP of the three and has two types of weapon, a sword and shield and a hammer, the shield can be aimed using the right analogue stick and will deflect and block all attacks that are in contact with the shield, the sword can be used to attack with medium damage, the hammer can be used to break certain objects and be used as a thrown weapon which deals lots of damage but you have to wait for it to return before you can use it again.

Zoya: Uses a bow and arrow as her weapon which deals medium damage and can be upgraded to shoot two arrows at a time, Zoyas secondary ability is her grappling skill which allows her to latch onto wooden surfaces and climb her rope or swing for a further jump.

The storyline is based around a wicked witch trying to capture the three heroes whilst they are on the quest to save the witches sister who is the pricess to the kingdom, there are many levels in which will test your ability as a puzzle solver and is the type of game aimed at casual players. Players can also play co-op but we'll gloss over that later.

The controls are eay to get used to and theres regular checkpoints in each level to aid you through. There are around 13 or so trophies for this game which include a :plat:Platinum.

Graphics:

The graphics turn this side scroller into a 3D side scroller, everything in the scenery looks like you could go into it or up it, the graphics are well done with lighting and color to set the ambience in each level, The characters look believable and the monsters and obstacles look visually pleasing, whilst still be fantasy you can almost believe that the scenery is real as its finely detailed and looks great! Whilst playing through we found no evidence of things that shouldn't happen, for instance stretching or pixelation in any of the levels, the gameplay was smooth and sleek throughout and was really enjoyable to play just because the game looked so well designed.

Multiplayer:

You can play through the storyline with a friend or two if you wish, whilst you can host your own or join other peoples games that is about the limit to what online has to offer, whilst this is no bad thing as this game doesn't need a competative mode. The multiplayer can be set up so you can all use the same characters or force people to only use one of the three (if in two player you can switch to the spare one so long as your partner is not using it)

Longevity:

Whilst being a reletively short game, it is very enjoyable, especially with a friend, however its not the kind of game that you will pick up for a while and re-play however there is downloadable content for this game and the game promises to offer good re-play value but we didn't feel the game itself had an appeal after completion, as it felt a bit of the "same old"

Scores

Gameplay: 8/10
Graphics:8/10
Online: 8/10
Longevity: 5/10

Overall: 29/40 {72.5%}

The term Ultrabook has been around for a short while and although it was invented by Intel for a certain range of products it seems to have taken off as a term for the best in Laptop technology. However Intel does state that to use the term Ultrabook on a manfacturers Laptop computer it has to comply with a certain set of specifications. These specs do change from year to year in order to keep only the very best products with the name Ultrabook for that year. We look at what is required in order to be classed as an Ultrabook and whats available in our What is an Ultrabook? article.

Intel has started to release a full lineup of new processors marketed under the Core i7, i5 and i3 Brands. This next generation of CPU's has been manufactured with transistors shrunk to 22 nanometers. Intel have also devised a way to get more transistors into a small die space by taking the CPU die into 3-D space. It also comes with improved intergrated graphics of two flavours depending on which CPU you purchase. While only a handful of the CPU's are on sale today it seems that there could be around 21 different models across the "Core i" range come the end of the year. Take a look at the benifits of the small manufacturing process and all of the specs and features in our Intel Ivy bridge guide
