This is actually the card that I personally use in my home machine. I use it for First Person Shooters as well as MP3's and DVD's. I used to have the SoundBlaster Live! 1024. Let me start by saying the bit I noticed the most was the 5.1 Dolby surround with the correct speakers. If Positioned in the right places playing games listening to music and watching DVD's is a whole new experience. With sound coming from all directions its a truly cinematic experience. While playing games and having bullets whistling past your ears is so much more fun and exciting. You really have to give it a go. I haven't had chance to try the Multiplayer link but if its true that its lower latency than a LAN gaming session then its well worth it. Home users without DVD or much interest in music will not need to upgrade there card to this as this card really pushes the boundaries out for people who want to be immersed in sound. Useful Links
