The wireless music player from creative is a neat little new tool that allows you to play your music on your PC in any other room in the house. This system works with your existing wireless network or you will simply require a wireless network card or gateway to send a signal from your main PC. The basic principal behind the Creative wireless music player is to connect the receiver in your selected room to your PC's audio files and download the playlists to its remote control. from the remote control you can then select your song and play it in your room. No need to touch your PC at all (as long as its on). The receiver plugs directly into your Stereo or home entertainment system, or any other powered speakers you have. Some systems similar to this also have to be plugged into the TV to display the playlists. The Creative wireless music however has a screen built into the remote control and so there is no need for a TV to be in the room, you can select your song straight off the remote control. As you know by now this device is wireless, and requires a wireless network card or router in your PC. It uses the 802.11b standard, which is a widely used standard. Those of you that have 802.11g networks installed in your home, don't worry as 802.11g is fully backwards compatible with 802.11b and so the wireless music device will work fine on either of these network types. A single PC can serve up to 4 of these units when you are using windows XP or 2000. So you can have music in most rooms of your house. Unfortunately those of you running windows 98 or ME can only run one system at a time. A couple of slightly teething points need to be pointed out. Firstly it seems that some cordless phones and baby monitors can interfere with the signal if they are operating on the same channel. This can cause the remote to freeze and the only way of sorting it is to remove the battery and replace it. You will then gain full control again. Very large playlists (we are talking 5000 and over) can take quite a long time to download onto the remote control. If you are fairly impatient and 60 seconds is a long time (well it is in computing terms) then you may get slightly annoyed by that wait. Once your up and running though Its great. One final nice feature is the alarm on the remote. Press a button on the receiver and an alarm sets off on the remote so you can find it. Perfect if your always losing your remote controls, that will be nearly all of you :o)
Sound
Blaster Wireless Music gives you the freedom to play all of the
MP3 and WMA music on your PC in another room of your home over
your existing 802.11b or 802.11g wireless network. The remote
control features a large LCD screen that lets you view and
choose songs and playlists without needing a TV like other
systems. The wireless receiver connects to any audio system, so
you can listen to your music in any room, on your Home
Entertainment system or with any powered speakers. And Sound
Blaster Wireless Music is designed to be easier to set up than
other solutions, detecting your existing wireless network and
either connecting automatically or with a simple USB setup.
Sound Blaster Wireless Music makes it easy to listen to your PC
music collection in the living room, bedroom, or any other room
where you want to enjoy music. |
