Wireless-G is an Upgrade from the older Wireless-b specification. The true name for these specifications is 802.11b and 802.11g. But the purposes of this we will simply refer to them as Wireless-b and Wireless-g. Wireless-g is up to 5 times as fast as Wireless-b with the ability to deliver 54Mbps against the 11Mbps of the wireless-b specification. It is also backwards compatible so it can interact with any wireless-b components you may have in existing computers. This is a newish technology but is expected to take off very quickly and replace wireless-b soon. This technology is also relatively inexpensive. It should be coming down to the price of the older technology very soon if not touching that price now. There really is no disadvantage for choosing Wireless-G. The range of the Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter is between 100-150 feet depending on the construction of the building you are using it in.
