Virtual
Memory |
Temporary storage of data on your hard disk - Windows
sometimes does not have enough RAM on the
computer to store all the data it needs for the applications
running. This is where Virtual Memory comes in. Windows allocates
a part of your hard disk (you can set this yourself) to store this
extra data. Virtual Memory is much slower than RAM though and is
no substitute to real memory. Having the right amount of memory is
essential for peak system performance. |
