UNIX |
A multitasking OS - Mainly used on
mainframes and Servers. Originally designed for the micro computer
its uses and power were found much more useful to the servers.
Most Internet hosts use either UNIX or Windows NT. Linux
however is becoming increasingly more popular. |

URL |
Uniform Resource Locator
- An internet address that lets your local browser know where
to find the information you requested. e.g.
www.pantherproducts.co.uk
is a URL. |

USB |
Universal Serial Bus - A port for connecting
devices such as Scanners and game controllers etc. Widely used now
and is replacing the older serial ports. USB allows peripherals to
be changed without restarting the computer. |
