RAM |
Random Access Memory - The main system
memory that is used to store data required by the software
currently running on your machine. RAM is by far faster than your
hard disk so the computer stores its data that needs accessing
there. RAM is not a permanent storage the computer needs to
refresh the data in the RAM constantly to keep it there. Having
more RAM than you actually need can slow down system

A very high speed high bandwidth memory -
still a form of DRAM. |

ROM |
Read Only Memory - ROM is a memory storage
where the data can be read but not changed. As in CD-ROM you can
read from the CD but not change its contents. |
