internet with the small (i) is a collection of
computer networks - The word internet is short for
internetwork. The word means a network of networks. The (I)nternet
with a capital (I) is not the same, see below. |

Internet with a capital (I) is the worlds
largest internet - Sounds confusing I know which is why most
people call it the World Wide Web.
Although this is not strictly true it a term that has caught on to
mean the Internet. mainly because the Internet is a collection of
networked computers the stretch right around the globe. |

Digital Network - A digital telephone line that can transmit
data up to 128K. ISDN lines are more reliable than there analogue
counterparts because of there digital backbone. |

ISP |
Internet Service Provider - Your ISP is
the company that allows you access to the WWW.
They often have a lot of available bandwidth
and rent that out to your for a monthly fee or by the amount of
time you spend using it. You can get Free ISP's who only ask you
to pay the phone bill on the local call charges. They make there
money by taking a cut of these charges from BT. |
