FAA |
Fragment Anti-Aliasing - A new type of
visual anti aliasing developed by Matrox |

FAT |
File Allocation Table - A file that is
located in sector 0 of a disk which contains information about
file sizes stored on the disk. It also serves as the disks index
with information about the location of every file on the disk. The
FAT is how the computer knows where to find the items which you
save on your hard disk. Keeping you disk de-fragmented helps the
computer find the data quicker and organises the FAT a lot better.

Fax |
Facsimile - A machine capable of scanning
a document and sending the digital image to another fax machine
and be printed out at the other end. Since the original fax
machine computers with fax/modems can send documents from computer
to fax machine and from fax machine to computer. |

FCPGA |
Flip Chip Pin Grid Array - FCPGA is the
packaging used by Intel PIII processors and Celeron processors
from 566Mhz, the silicon core is exposed in FCPGA packaging, see PPGA |

Flash |
An application created by Macromedia -
Flash was designed to add extra functionality to websites. Flash
could be used to create moving images or for allowing the user to
have a more animated way of navigating their way around a site |

Flash ROM |
Read Only Memory that can be overwritten by
flashing - Flashing ROM such as BIOS's can be dangerous as the
previous content is erased by an electric charge. Flash ROM cannot
be written to in the same way as RAM because flash ROM is a "permanent
storage" |

Disk Drive |
Basic storage device that takes low capacity
Floppy disks to store data. |

Form Factor |
A term used to describe what slot or socket
type a motherboard and CPU is made for - For example Socket A
is the form factor for the AMD Athlon and Duron processors. A
motherboard that supports these processors will have to have the
socket A form factor. |

FPS |
Frames per Second - Units to measure
graphics display performance. Each frame is represented by one
completed still picture. FPS is the number of these completed
frames which are drawn (displayed) every second. Widely used by
gamers and overclockers to test the performance of there computer.

FTP |
File Transfer Protocol - A client/server
protocol for exchanging files with a host computer. Commonly used
on the internet for exchanging files with private servers. see

FSAA |
Full Scene Anti-Aliasing - The ability to
smooth graphics and get rid of jagged edges when a 3D graphics
card draws them. FSAA greatly improves the quality of graphics
displayed in today's games. |

FSB |
Front Side Bus - The Bus
that connects the CPU to the main system RAM
and the PCI Bridge. |
