Epson SX100 All in one Photo Printer

Epson have released a selection of new general purpose and multifunction printers in the SX range. At the budget end of the scale here we have the SX100. For under ?60 at time of release you can have an all in one solution capable of printing documents, graphics and photos. The SX100 can print black and white documents up to 26 pages per minute and produce a 15"x10" colour photo in around 94 seconds in the fastest modes.

A four colour Durabright ink system is used inside the SX100 each with individual cartridges for a cost effective running of the printer, only change the colour you require as and when they run out. Genuine cartridges start from just ?5.99 and there are always plenty of choice of compatible cartridges and refills available for an even bigger saving. Epson Photo Enhance bundled software can easily remove red-eye from your photo's for that final touching up of your best pics. 

Being an all in one printer, the SX100 is also a scanner and a photocopier. The scanner is capable of scanning at a resolution of 600 dpi (dots per inch). The Epson SX100 also comes with Epson easy photo fix, to allow you to perform restoration on your photo's and backlight correction to get the most out of your faded photo's.

Being at the entry level end of the market the SX100 doesn't have an LCD viewing screen for previewing your photo's and to a lesser extent your documents so you will need to make sure you use the PC software in order to get a preview of what the print will look like. Also in the more expensive models you may be able to alter the image in terms of gamma correction, red eye removal and sizing adjustments without the need for a PC. If however you are the casual user on a budget then these extra's are still achievable on the provided PC software or any good image editing software.

With the economy in its current climate printers at this end of the market are becoming more popular as home users find that the entry level printer can actually achieve everything they require and with the bonus of a scanner and photocopier built in all for under ?60 the SX100 can be the perfect buy for you.

Differences in the SX100 and SX105

Technical specifications on the SX100 and SX105 are exactly the same. It seems that the SX105 comes with a slightly better software bundle including the ABBYY FineReader® 6.0 Sprint Plus program. There is also a slight colour scheme change with the small grey backing on the left side by the buttons is now all black on the SX105 version.
