Blue Dragon (Xbox 360)

Blue Dragon was a much anticipated RPG published by Microsoft Game Studios. The game is inspired From the designer of Final Fantasy and the animation coming from the animator of Dragonball Z making Blue Dragon look tremendous. With those two talents combined with the power of the Xbox 360 the graphics really look awesome.

For those of you that love Final Fantasy you will know what to expect from Blue Dragon and I doubt you will be disappointed with the result. Those of you new to to RPG's of this fashion will soon be able to pick up the basic controls, as the battles are turn based it gives you plenty of time to learn the controls and master your attacks. Blue dragon presents you with a number of easy battles and task to start off with so you can really learn the game in detail before it gets too difficult. As well as the graphics on the cosmetic side of things the music adds a great feel to the game especially the Boss battle music. Of course on the Xbox 360 you can substitute your own music but what you get in Blue Dragon fits just nice.

As far as the story goes you start of taking control of a young boy called Shu, living in a small village. As a child you know that your village has been under attack for the last 10 years from a mysterious "land shark". You and two of your friends (Jiro and Kluke) set out to capture this terror of the village only to discover that the land shark is not a creature but a machine. In your attempts to capture it the land shark returns home to its mothership with Shu, Jiro and Kluke along with it.

Once on the Mothership they discover who is behind the constant attacks to their village, an aged man called Nene, who has at his disposal an array of mechanical weaponry. When trying to defeat Nene you are easily defeated and Nene escapes. You are then greeted by a 3 mysterious spheres of light and a female voice which instructs you to swallow the light. Curious as a child is and wanting to rid the village of Nene you do as instructed. Soon after you discover that your shadows have turned into powerful creatures. Jiro's shadow turns to a Minotaur, Kluke's into a Phoenix and Shu's into a Blue Dragon. From here you search the continent looking to find the evil that terrorises your village.

Train your shadows in many different skills, improve their power and give them a classes to follow depending on your style of play. Use powerful magic, physical attacks and special items to fight your way through the enemies and rid the whole world of Nene and his evil machines.

Blue Dragon has a massive amount of gameplay in it. It was the first Xbox 360 to ship with 3 DVD's, so you can see exactly how much has gone into this game. When played to achieve everything you could be looking at over 100 hours of gameplay, well worth the price of the game. An excellent game for RPG lovers and a great one to start getting into RPG's with. Highly recommended by PantherProducts.
