Age of Empires has been hailed as the forerunner of
Real Time Strategy games even though its been six years since the release
of Age of Empires II - Age of Kings. The release of Age of Empires III
aims to solidify this series as the best RTS series on the market. This
third release of Age of Empires gives the graphical element a real boost.
The graphics are nothing short of stunning. Check out the screenshots
below.
Age of Empires III takes you hundreds of years further down the timeline
from AOE 2. You now enter a time of the Europeans. Europeans struggling
for control over the realms of North and South America. The gameplay
hasn't been tampered with too much. Some might say they would like to see
improvements while others will be pleased that the game plays rather much
the same as the previous instalment and they know how things are going to
work. 8 European nations are available from the start and each having
there own subtle differences in economy and military like the previous
version. Things such as the British gain extra workers and the Russians
have the ability to train light infantry with a greater speed.
The resource section of any RTS game is key to success. Resources in Age
of Empires II have been somewhat simplified. While in Age of Empires II
you had 4 resources we now only have to deal with 3. Food, Wood and Coin.
Stone which was the fourth resource in Age II is now no longer required.
Also you will find that resource drop off points are no longer required.
Your towns people mining resources no longer have to travel to drop off
there goods. This is a little unrealistic but certainly easier.
The main new feature of Age of Empires III is the introduction of the
"Home City". Your home city can send you reinforcements and resources and
aid depending on how many experience points your home city has. You gain
experience points by building up your colony and better yet killing off
your foes.
Skirmish matches are available online. And you will need to gain separate
experience points for your race both online and offline. You do carry over
your experience points from one match to the next so that its like a game
such as World of Warcraft and its levelling system. You can take people on
at similar experience levels.

Features
-
Engage in epic strategic
battles. As players control the action, they can experience a new level
of exciting combat with realistic physics effects, and have the option
of engaging in battle with blades, gunpowder or both. Victory depends on
the player's strategic battle plan.
-
Develop and strengthen a
unique, customized Home City. The Home City represents a player's
capital back in Europe and plays a supporting role in the attempt to
control the New World. The better the player performs in the New World,
the more powerful his Home City becomes. Players can customize their
Home City to reflect unique personality traits, making the Home City a
vital character in the game.
-
Explore a vibrant New World.
Players can take advantage of elements of the colonial time period,
including the ability to ally with Native Americans. They also can
explore and find new resources in the Amazon rain forest, recover buried
treasure from Caribbean islands, hunt bison on the Great Plains, compete
to establish trade routes, and fortify the coast of New England.
-
Experience stunning graphics.

a world that feels bright and sunny, yet which has a softness and depth
that is revolutionary to PC games. Thanks to the new physics engine,
players will never see the same scene twice.

civilizations. Gamers can play as the British and have a stellar
economy, or play as the French and easily ally with Native Americans.
