The first thing you have to get across about Mario Strikers is that this game is not a football simulation game, in fact Mario strikers doesn't really follow the rules of football. This game is designed for pick up and play fun. Certainly best played with friends as the carnage and chaos causes emotions to run high. Mario Strikers is all about power ups not skill. Collect the power ups and use them wisely to destroy the opposition and score some truly unbelievable goals. Mario Strikers Charged Football is based loosely on a game of 5-a-side football but with a pitch filled with hazards, obstacles and collectables. Forget any ideas of playing formations, tactics and fancy skills because they will get you nowhere. Think more about playing dirty destroying your opponents and picking up items that in any other football ground would get you put away for a very long time. Each of the 5-a-side teams will have a captain picked from the main characters like Mario or Luigi, the 3 other players from the minor characters and then you will have a Kremlin keeper (poor thing). The release of Mario Strikers brings more than just a new game, this game is the first to be playable online on Nintendo's Wii console. While this news alone is great it comes as extra good news because if we are honest the 1 player aspect can lose its interest very quickly. Playing against a mate or online against the world is the only way to play Mario Strikers Charged Football. Shooting is a little different than you might expect for a football game, but not for Mario Strikers. When you get an opportunity for a shot, hold down the B button for a few seconds for a power bar to appear above you. Press the B button again a couple of time to select the power and then you will fire a barrage of high powered shots at the opposition keeper. If you are playing against a human opponent, this part becomes fun as they become in control of some keeper gloves and pointing their controller at the screen they have to manoeuvre the gloves to try and save the speeding balls. unfortunately playing against the computer the amount the keeper saves or the amount you score is simply told to you. So if you fancy a bit of fun with your mates or within the family then Mario Strikers can be a really fun pick up and play game. If your looking for a football sim with cartoon Nintendo characters then I'm affraid this is not what you are looking for.
