The GTA series since GTA III has been a massive success. GTA vice city expanded on the same idea. Made the city larger and changed the theme to Miami state in the 1980's. GTA San Andreas takes the same GTA III engine again and expands the gameplay and area even further. San Andreas is a fictional state, The area is much wider than that of any other Grand Theft Auto game. You can drive your way between 3 cities and the countryside between them. This time around the theme is a 1990's style in various city styles, based on American cities of that time period.

In Grand Theft Auto San Andreas you can start your own gang. The idea behind this is that you can hire and fire the gangsters that you want and fight other rival gangs for power and territory. Despite this openness, you will still have missions to accomplish in a true GTA style linear gameplay. Like we say GTA San Andreas keeps the style of gameplay from the previous GTA titles.

I don't want to go into the storyline as you will discover that once you get into the game. There are however a couple of new added features in this version to distinguish San Andreas from the other GTA games. A Nice feature is that you now have to keep CJ (the main character) in shape. If you don't eat too much junk food and you take regular exercise then CJ will be able to run faster further and jump higher walls. If you build a gangster empire but then sit around you may find your fitness and ability to run and fight is compromised.

Also There is a new vehicle in San Andreas. You can now ride a motorcycle. The controls for this are very much the same as with the cars, but you may find that tapping the X button makes you go that little bit faster. With all the vehicles and the weapons you will be given a rating. As you gain experience with each of these your "skill level" with weapons and vehicles will increase. Higher skill levels improves the way that you use weapons (such as locking on targets and reloading times). With motorcycles a better rating will give you the opportunity to pull off higher bunny hops.

Also Grand Theft Auto has a mild fun side too it, in the shape of mini games. During the game you will come across the opportunity to play basketball games, pool games, Slot machines and more. Just to add a little light heartedness to the game. GTA San Andreas is a much larger game and as such will take a lot longer to complete than the others. However if you miss all of the side missions and fun extra's you can still run straight though it in about 35hours (still a huge game). My advice try everything and this game will last you ages. Making Grand Theft Auto San Andreas a very good value for money game.
