The Gran Turismo series has reached level 4 and features more cars than ever before from over 80 different manufacturers. Gran Turismo has always been renowned for its realism and physics engine as well as its wealth of different cars and manufacturers involved in the game. This is no different except there is more and better of everything. Gran Turismo is not an arcade game its a true simulation. So expect realism and don't expect super power ups and the ability to bang off every wall at 200mph and just carry on as normal. As well as the massive amounts of cars there is also a more than impressive selection of tracks to choose from. Some are made up for the game but many are real tracks from around the world, including the infamous Nurburing in Germany which is nearly 13 miles long and has a reputation for being one of the most demanding and dangerous courses in the world. Graphically GT4 has to be the best driving game around. The car models are stunning and the lighting effects are second to none, especially the reflection on the car windows (all done in real time). GT4 pushes the boundaries of the Playstation 2's hardware. Like the other versions of the game there are only 6 cars on track at a time, possibly due to the hardware requirements of more cars. The game itself splits into two different modes, arcade mode which allows you to choose single races time trials and two player head to head battles then you have Gran Turismo mode which is the main game. In GT mode you will need to earn your way to the big races by starting out with the road class car and entering small races and earning enough o upgrade your car and eventually buy new cars to compete in more prestigious competitions. returning to the GT series is the much loved (hhhmm) license tests. If you have played Gran Turismo before then you will know that in order to race in proper higher class races you need to earn yourself a race licence. various test have to be performed from simple accelerating and braking techniques to tricky turns round cones within time limits. Want even more realism, well just to finish I will let you know that the engine noises from the cars that you here in the game have been individually recorded from the cars themselves.
