Destruction Derby Arenas (PS2)

Destruction Derby Arenas is the fourth in the series of Destruction Derby games. It is the first however to move onto the Playstation 2 platform. The original Destruction derby game was very popular as it was a completely new type of game from the driving genre. Those of you that just loved to smash you and everyone else's cars up just ate up the game. Destruction Derby 2 added to the original games features, then Destruction Derby RAW followed on the PS1. DD RAW was packed with tracks and new games however it was the game that show the limits of the PS1. The graphics started to look blocky and the cars were of a very similar colour everytime.

This is where the PS2 brings the game to life. Destruction Derby Arena gives the graphics engine a much needed nitro boost. The cars are bright and colourful and look more like something out of NFS underground than the bangers you will be accustomed to. However the game hasn't turned into a straight racing game by any means. Its simply means you have prettier cars to smash up :-).

The tracks have also had some imagination put into them. Destruction Derby RAW started to make use of extra features in the tracks with 32 different ones. Now Destruction Derby Arena gives you loops corkscrew ramps and large jumps to negotiate as well as trying not to let the other drivers smash your car up. To help you tracks also have special power ups to collect. These include nitro bursts, score multipliers and a shield.
