Half-Life 2 Has arrived, years of waiting for the sequel to the game that PC gamer branded the "the best game as all time". Half-Life 2 is a fitting sequel which carries on directly from the original blockbuster. If you completed the original Half Life then you will know that at the very end of the game you came face to face with the infamous blue suited G-Man. He gave you the option to either work for him or Die. With those two options available and if you died then a sequel would be hard, You start this new game working for G-Man. I wont ruin any of the story for after this point as the story as always is a major part of the game. If you liked the original half-life and the way it was played you will be pleased to know that Valve haven't tampered with the gameplay much at all. They have however taken the game a huge technological step forward. The graphics is an obvious point that you will notice an improvement. The specifications you will need have increased giving you an idea of the way that Half-Life 2 has progressed. As well as the graphics the physics are an important part of Half-Life 2. Enemies and your surrounding are much more interactive and appear to do what you would expect when you shoot them and move them about. The enemies are the best example of this. Half-Life 2 has introduced some new weapons as well as recycling the older ones from the original game such as the crowbar, machine gun and shotgun. The new weapons include The Pulse Riffle, which boils down to a futuristic style energy based riffle with a very nice secondary fire. The pheropod is a fun weapon where you summon creatures to do your bidding. The final and most innovative gun you can now get is the gravity gun. The gravity gun can but used for multiple things. You can pick up grenades that have been thrown at you and toss them straight back, or you can use it to manipulate objects in the game, to help you solve puzzles or get you out of sticky situations. The only real disappointment of the game is the level of difficulty. Even on some of the harder levels and the harder difficulty settings, it can seem as though its a little bit too easy to take down the enemies. With the exception of a couple of the "boss" style baddies, you will find that most of the monsters you will face can be taken down with a couple of rounds of your more than powerful enough weapons. Overall the game will is in the must buy category. I imagine that for the majority of you that have been waiting for the release of Half-Life 2 you will have already made up you mind that you are buying it. I would say that the storyline is a little weaker than the first game but not too much. This however will more than made up with the way the game immerses you into its environment and half-life 2's own reality.
