On the PC Counter-Strike stated life as a simple MOD for the Half-life engine. Since then this game has become the most played multiplayer online game there has ever been. Beating off Unreal Tournament and even Quake III. Now Counter-Strike has gone retail and you no longer need Half-Life to play this great game. You can now own a copy of Counter-Strike for your XBOX and using Xbox live you can join one of the many multiplayer games going on right now. Also you can use a communication headset and gain a strategic advantage by talking to your team mates. There has never been a more realistic game of anti-terrorism and to think this was just a modification at one point.

With a broadband connection and XBOX live players can play people from all over the world and a unique ranking system will allow you to choose games against people of similar quality. Also an advantage that the XBOX has over the PC version is the ability to keep a greater eye on multiplayer cheating which was threatening to ruin the PC multiplayer scene. Firstly its much harder to cheat online with a console and XBOX live also has anti-cheating software.

You will also be able to take part in some single player missions. Selected missions from the new Counter-Strike Condition Zero for the PC will be included in this XBOX version giving the game a bit of everything for everyone.
