The success of Unreal Tournament and Unreal Tournament 2003, meant this title was inevitable. It seems this game will be everything you expect from an Unreal Tournament game with a few extra's thrown in. New game modes have been thrown in as well as the welcome return of Assault, beefed up and ready for UT2004. Also as you would expect the game comes complete with new weapons as well including a anti - vehicle rocket launcher. Anti-vehicle you ask? Yep that mean you now have vehicles in the game. You can get into land, air and space vehicles in Assault and Onslaught modes. Scroll down for more info on the game modes and weapons.

There is more however to this game than just more of what you had before. There have also been some interesting tweaks some you might find a little more than just useful.

  • Voice-over IP support - command and coordinate. Give orders, rally your troops or talk smack with the enemy.

  • Voice recognition - give orders to bots; no more typing when you should be fighting!

  • Completely redesigned menus, including a new server browser with right-click menus and many brand-new configurable features.

  • Improved AI: vehicle control, advanced dodging and wall-dodging, improved aim, better team coordination.

  • Deeper single player mode with comprehensive team management options, challenge matches, multiple endings and more.

  • Integrated map vote and match set-up for Internet play.

  • UnrealTV - a proxy broadcast system allowing a huge number of spectators to watch a match live over the Internet.

  • Pixomatic software renderer allowing incredible performance with no 3D card required. Play UT2004 on your laptop!

  • A re-designed HUD, improved weapon effects (bullet decals, incredible explosions), improved first person weapon rendering and innumerable improvements for mod authors, new announcer voices, rendering optimizations...the list goes on!

The Story

The story behind the game is quite an interesting one. The human race had settled its need for violence and turned to exploration. Without the need for bloodshed the humans left earth and spread across the galaxy. However as they left earth they took with them the dark beast of violence and soon crime was back into society. For the first time in over 100 years prisons were created to hold the scum of society.

The concept of violence was well and truly back and in 2213 it happened, the event that once again changed humankind. A prison ship called vortex made an emergency landing on a planet known as Na-Pali. It was reporting engine trouble. However what happened after is still unclear. Soon after landing nearly all of the prisoners will killed. Death was certainly not natural. The planet had been invaded by an alien race known as the Skaarj. Powerful warriors that come from a warrior style society.

One man survived he fought for freedom and was eventually rescued by a Liandri security ship that was conveniently patrolling the area. Soon after the survivor was sent back to the surface to face the rest of the Skaarj. The rest of the information has been classified. As conspiracy started to spread the human race once again turned to war, costing millions of lives, the only people to profit were the weapons suppliers. The human race was once again ruled by violence and the imperial forces.
