Max Payne was a revolution to action gaming, it put a whole new angle the way we played first person shooters. On top of that was the introduction of bullet time. which allowed you to slow down the motion of the game for a period of time allowing you to effectively dodge bullets (very Matrix and very clever).

Max Payne 2 as you would expect has taken this a step further again with bullet time 2. Bullet time 2 has a few new cool features, firstly there are greatly improved physics. I won't talk too much about that you just need to know that this greatly improves the realism of the game. Also the enemies can be put on a different scale of slow motion to you when in bullet time. This allows you to be slightly faster than they are and have a faster firing rate. This is incredibly useful and gives you a awesome sense of power for those few seconds.

The gameplay is similar to the original version with max roaming the streets fighting bad guys and searching for items to guide you through the level. The dream sequences that were present in the first are still there. Some people liked them some people didn't. I wasn't a great fan of them myself, but I had to admit it gave the game another twist which is what Max Payne was all about.

The enemies AI has also improved you can't just entice them out by quickly running past them  any more. You have to use your skill grenades and bullet time to great effect. All makes for an improved game. Just one thing though the game does contain violent scenes and carries an 15 certificate please be aware of this before purchasing the game.
