Anyone who has played Final Fantasy games on a regular basis will know that these games have become a genre in its own right. Such as Star Trek is to Sci-Fi viewers, Final Fantasy is to RPG games. It has its own group of followers, but those who follow are completely addicted. And there are many Final Fantasy games have been going for around 15 years, which shows you what a success the game has become. This is the 11th game in the series of Final Fantasy games and as a novelty this is the first of the games every to be a sequel. The Final Fantasy series has always been known for each of its games to have its own story, time period and characters. This version breaks the mould. Saying this its probably best to have a look at Final Fantasy X or at least get the story before you get into this game.

X-2 is set 2 years after the defeat of Sin in FFX. Yuna is back and in somewhat in a different light. The robes have gone and she now sports a pair of shorts, her staff has also been traded in for a pair of pistols. Your aim? To search for spheres which contain recording of historical documents of the world Spira.

Unlike the normal RPG game however FFX-2 is not a totally linear game. You don't have to follow the story exactly. The idea is to find your way to the next level not be taken there by the story. This gives the game a whole new twist from the norm. There are also side missions in the game which you do not have to do, or you may not even find. However not doing these missions could leave you without vital items and you may miss some of the story. This leaves an option open to you. You can try and blitz through the game in about half the time it should take or take on the full story and get the cool stuff that comes with it. Any true fans of the Final Fantasy series will have no trouble making that decision.

The Job system seen in the previous games is still intact although there is an extra. "Dresspheres" are around for you to collect which allow you to get new jobs. You can now use any of your characters to switch between these jobs, and as your characters increase in their levels you learn new skills and abilities.

Final Fantasy games are a legend and I recommend anyone to try them. I will point out though that the only downside is that FFX-2 does rely on the story from FFX. If your jumping into the series of Final Fantasy games then see what you can pick up before this one. If your a fan of FF games then you've already decided your going to buy this one, and you shouldn't be disappointed.

Main characters

Her time with Rikku and the others aboard the Celsius has changed her, she now chooses paths that will lead to her goals.

Rikku, age: 17
Still the enthusiastic teenager, Rikku has adjusted to life after being a Guardian for her cousin Yuna in the mission to defeat Sin. As a result, she is allowing herself to get caught up in the spirit of the adventure with her fellow sphere hunters, the Gullwings.
