Taking place 20 years after the events of Deus EX, Deus EX invisible war depicts a story of a more basic need than the technology of the previous mission. Food, water and Law have become scarce. Factions have become to take control and seize world power. Its your job to scope out these factions and reveal the mystery that the invisible war holds. This is a very story driven game so the story itself is best left for the player to discover. Although you can class Deus EX as a first person shooter. Its a country mile away from being a frag everything style game such as UT2004 or Quake. Dues EX takes a much more subtle approach. The idea is to use the shadows and stay silent as enemies react to both seeing and hearing you. Another nice touch to this game is that although it is story driven its not completely linear. There are several ways to achieve your objectives throughout each of your missions. The really fun bit comes with the competing factions in the game. They will all try and get you to complete missions for them. Often these missions will conflict each other and its up to you who you wish to trust. You can follow one faction from the start and trust them implicitly or you can betray everyone's trust and just do what you think is right, reserving the right to double cross anyone whenever you feel the need. To help you achieve your missions you are able to upgrade, by this I mean you can upgrade yourself. Biotech modifications allow you to upgrade your own body by implanting Nano-technological body upgrades. With these equipt you can do such things as see through walls jump high over walls, regenerate wounds and even become radar invisible.
Although Deus EX
Invisible War does have some background information available to you from
the previous game it does help to get you more involved in the game if you
have completed the original (available
below). You can certainly play this game without having done
the first but some of the story may seem a little strange to you. (Click to Enlarge Screen shots - Screens taken from Xbox version)
