Dead or Alive makes its way onto the new Xbox 360 system with the release of Dead or Alive 4. The Dead or Alive series famed for being one the most comprehensive fighting games on the market. Making use of the environment in the battles is all key to this series of games. This version doesn't try to change much in the way that s the games played. You would be a fool to try and change a game that is clearly working well. What we are looking at with Dead or Alive 4 are improvements in the graphics, which were already visually appealing, as well as improvements in the range and complexity of the characters you can choose from. Dead or Alive 4 uses the Xbox 360's extra power to take the realms of realism that little bit further.

Unlike many other fighting simulations on the market today, you wont find masses of magical powers used by your characters to defeat the enemies. Nor is there a massive selection of 20 button combo's to execute a special move. Dead or Alive 4 uses simple controls that can be used together with the D-pad in order to create a fighter with skill. Three buttons are used. One for kicking, one for punching, and one for defence and counter attacking. Using these buttons with the D-pad in different positions gives you the range of moves. What I like especially about this is the counter attacking option with the defence button. Coming up against an opponent that just hammers the buttons to randomly kick and punch can be easily picked off with a well times counter move. Time to learn how to play the game I think.

Dead or Alive 4 on the Xbox 360 is Xbox live enabled so you can take on opponents from all round the world at any time you like. Xbox live is a subscription service check out the official Xbox live website for details. You like to make a challenge to many people? Dead or Alive 4 comes with a new concept for online play. A lobby system can be setup with upto 16 people and you can play a traditional "winner stays on" format like you would play at a real arcade with some friends. A very nice touch to take you back in time.
