VIA KT600 Motherboard Comparison

The VIA KT600 is the next in the progression of chipsets for the Athlon XP from the KT400 and KT400A. A major point in this release of Socket A chipsets is the fact it now has true DDR400 support. The KT400 was able to use DDR400 memory however it was not officially supported by VIA because at the time no real standards existed for that type of memory. Many motherboard manufacturers took it upon themselves to implement the DDR400 technology at a limited basis. Usually stating that only 2 memory banks could be used to house DDR400 memory.

The KT600 has support for the Latest in Athlon XP CPU's such as the Barton. With extra features such as SATAlite™ interface expands support for two additional SATA devices through optional external Serial ATA PHY Dual Channel Parallel ATA (up to 4 devices). As well as V-RAID which supports RAID 0 RAID 1 and RAID 0+1 on serial ATA and ATA-133 standards.

With the continuing need to PC expansion the VIA KT600 supports a further 2 USB ports giving the user 8 USB ports to play with.
